Bierk Art Fund Bursary Program
The Electric City Culture Council (EC3) is pleased to be organizing a program of bursaries in 2019 for Peterborough high school students completing Grade 12 who plan to undertake post-secondary studies in the visual arts. These bursaries are made possible with support from the Bierk Art Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough.
The Bierk Art Fund Bursary Program will provide two bursaries of $1,000.00 each to graduating high school students in the City or County of Peterborough whose work demonstrates great promise (artistic merit) and who have a serious commitment to pursuing further studies in the visual arts. Winners will be selected by a jury composed of local arts professionals.
The bursaries will be presented at the Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts, alongside the Peterborough Arts Awards on Friday, May 24, 2019, 11:30am - 1:30pm at the McDonnel St Activity Center.
Eligible students should fill out a Bierk Art Fund Bursary Application Form (below) and bring their completed application and examples of their work to Artspace (378 Aylmer St. North) on Saturday, May 18, 2019 between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm for a Portfolio Review. For an appointment please send an email to bierkartfundbursaries@gmail.com. Tables and chairs will be provided for students, and jury members will spend time with each student. The jury will meet to assess applicants immediately following the Portfolio Review. All applicants will be assessed on the same criteria. Successful applicants will be notified within one week and will receive a free ticket to the Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts on May 24, 2019, where the bursaries will be presented. For more information please read the application form below.

EC3 would like to thank the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough (Bierk Art Fund) for their generous financial support of this project.
Thanks also to our partners on this project, Artspace and the Art Gallery of Peterborough, for their kind support.
